Evosport Pulley and ECU program combo

Has anyone done this package and do they feel it was worth the 20 or so stated hp? I called EVO and they stated the numbers over lap and the combined ponies is about 20 hp To remove this ad, register today or login if you already are registered!

it came from the sales person at EVO, he said about 22 and I asked if that can even be felt. He went on to state the feeling all around, throttle response and so on..

seems like a lot of dough for a small power increase when LET can add around double that.

It is both the pulley and the tuning to the ECU and the car is a E63.

I've been thinking about the pulley as well for my 63. I've asked around and those who have done it seem to confirm that it does free up 15 hp +-. I would think with a tune you would be making more than 20-22 hp overall? Either way, I wouldn't expect to feel a 20 hp difference. I think it will show a difference on paper if you are into 1/4 mile, or 60-130, etc..., but not easily felt. As far as throttle response, that is something that probably would be noticeable. Curious myself.

I was thinking the same thing.... these numbers would be very conservative for an E55 but not so conservative for an E63.

I would stay away from pulleys for now. The only two things that have been proven to add power over and over again to the 63 platform are headers and a tune. You should be able to extract 40 to 50 hp fairly easily.

Kleemann headers with tune is the best bang for the buck IMO . the pulley is almost a G and not worth the 5hp if lucky . you can make up the difference in HP by removing the baffles "scoops" on the air intakes and its free!!!!

I have an EVO pulley on my 55 with an LET tune, so the power is obviously different and isn't worth discussing. However what I can say is that EVO crank pulley is very nice quality and their customer support is pretty good too.

22hp on a NA car isn't that little, I'm not sure what pricing is but I think it's worth it. they under rate their e55 packages too...

I'm curious why the pulley mod is so popular with bimmer guys, and not so much with the 63? The concept is the same for N/A engines right?

I don't understand it either.

The BMW comes with a lightweight aluminum crank pulley from the factory and the performance one is just smaller(slightly lighter) where the 63 pulley is MUCH lighter and smaller in diameter than the heavyweight factory paperweight they use from the factory.

I've done quite a few of these on M3's, M5's, M6's and 63's and I think they are worth the $$$!

Maybe it has something to do with the BMW pulley is ~$400 and the MB pulley is ~$1,000!
