Run any 996 911 Turbos?

I picked one up on the freeway on my way to work this morning.
We had a good few roll ons, from around 60mph to sometimes up to 150mph ish. There was nothing in it. Acceleration wise the E55 was a match for the 911 turbo.

I was pleasantly surprised.
I thought the turbo would hand me my ass

friend driving my e55 vs. another friend driving 911T 996.

1st and 2nd gear are pretty even. 3rd is when the E55 will slowly pull. It's pretty close, but the e55 should start pulling.

I've run stock to moderately modded 996 turbos and they're no match for a full bolt-on e55. a highly modded 996 will eat my lunch and slap my girlfriend.

i did a roll with a 996tt that had K26 GT2 turbos, intercoolers, ecu, fueling, exhaust and he was head to head with me - probably the closest roll i've done. he's not nearly as good of driver as the guy driving that yellow 911 in my videos...

Wait, are you claiming the E55 in the vid Jackpro referenced to be yours?

Also, the 996TT in that vid is hideaway's and yes the E55 would appear to be a bit quicker up top. I think the OP's results sound about right.

This is still my favorite E55 race video, even though it's with a lambo. Thanks Jangy.

I might be running a 996TT that's putting down 650 rwhp. We'll go from a dig and a roll on but in all reality I'm going to get my a$$ handed to me. Without DR's it's going to be really ugly and with DR's I would expect to hang for at least a second...lol. This car does mid to high 6's at it's best so it is fast. We've been trying to hook up this race for a while now and something always comes up....not on my end though. I have nothing to lose, my 2 ton grocery getter against a true street machine....this gets me excited. I'll post videos and results if it does indeed happen.

No, just stating facts about a lineup between my stock e55 vs. friend's stock 996T - I can see how it can be taken that I was saying the clip was mine. I was just referencing the clip as a similar experience.

Mine won't. AWD is a wonderful thing.

My 996TT will take my E55. First 100 feet, the E55 wins, just the difference between TT and SC. After that, it is pretty much all 996.

Now, this is seat of the pants, as I have never run them. My wife and I are going to the drag strip come spring. She has the DR (for the E55) and I don't.

My 996 is an X50, so it has the big K24 turbos.

Hey guys! First post, but since I've got a 996tt and a newly acquired E55, I thought I'd share.

First off, stoak for stock, the E55 should beat the turbo pretty handily. The turbos are no joke though! Get a flash and exhaust on a non-K24 car and you're at 500+ HP. Do that on a K24 car and you're at nearly 600. Either way, they both should walk the E55.

My turbo is tuned Protomotive with K24/18g turbos and a lot of other goodies. It runs 6.6 flat 60-130, and that's at 1.3bar. I'm running stock injectors, but guys with injectors and the same hardware as me are running 6.2 - 6.3, but that's at 1.4bar+. I'm happy the way my turbo runs, and it's as reliable as the day is long...even running nearly double the boost on a stock-internal engine.

I'm fairly new to the board (even though my join date is old...I used to have an E60 M5, so I was just checking the competition!), so I don't know what you guys have done to your cars, but be careful with those turbos...they can be VERY fast!!

Good luck!

comparing stock to modded gets iffy. my bolt on e55 beats a bolt on 996tt, GIAC tune and Fabspeed exhaust as well as some other things were on the porsche.

i have also done a roll and a dig with a AWE GT2 turbos car, that had intercoolers and fueling.....running at 1-1.1 bar i believe. from a roll it was dead even and from a dig i beat it by more then the bolt on car. it was 45 degrees outside and that porsche got squiggly

Not sure but it really doesn't matter because he never seems to want to play. Yes, I know they are very fast and when I said whoppin I meant me.... His car is in the mid to high 6's from 60-130 and that = a$$ whoppin for me. I guess some people have better things to do besides running in Mexico on Friday's than us married people with kids .
