My W212 E63 AMG Dropped with HRE's and few other mods...

Well I have been posting in this forum for about a month and did indeed pick up a W212 about 3 weeks ago. Normally I mod a little faster but the HRE wheels took 2.5 weeks to get built. Im really enjoying this car and for a DD its an excellent choice. The Vorsteiner Aero kit is being made as I type and it should be on by next week.

More pics to come- these were a few impromptus that we took this past weekend after we put the wheels on at my buddies shop. Thanks to Auktane for the shots, I know he wasnt a big fan of the lighting. We took a ton and I should post a few more shortly.

Short mod list and thanks to the following:

Ed and crew at HMS in Orange County for:

HRE C97's 20x9 (et 29) and 20x10 (et 39) with 255x30 and 295x25 Nitto Invos.
Painted Calipers with Brembo Logos (no posing here, we got OEM Brembos)
Valentine V1 install
AMG flat badge

Guy Atherton, Domestic Sales Manager at HRE

Serge and John at Hyevon Motors in Orange County for:

Lowering springs in the front and links in the rear.

Got to say, it's more sick looking than your other stable of cars.

It comes with its own hardware- very simple install- 30 seconds.

V12God: I love the way this car drives--- so solid and planted at higher speeds in straights and turns. My M3 used to wiggle and move all over the place. This car handles excellent for a 2 ton piggie. The 13.1:1 steering is a great improvement over previous AMG steering racks I have had. The front wider track and steel springs really limit understeer and the chassis feels solid.

you will like it and it actually fits very snug with our W212 new hood. It has a wing nut tightner that can be done with your hands.

Whats the ride quality like with the being lowered and the 20" wheels. What kind of springs and links did you use to lower the car?

I like the flat black one I have on now- much better fitment and it goes with color scheme of the car.

Im used to 20 inch wheels but you can feel more of the road with the lower profile tires. I did drop about 7 lbs on each corner in unsprung weight. The stock 18's are tanks. I used H&R springs for the front and the links are the stock ones with the sensors adjusted. If you change the angle on the sensor of the factory link it will push the shocks down.

I love the wheels and the stance on the car. The problem is I drive into the city quite often so I don't want to risk stability and ride comfort. By changing the angle of the links does it provide added stress to the shocks?

I live in the OC, comfort is still very very good--- but so are the roads. Whenever you change the geometry of the suspension you are putting more stress on the shocks. Its just inheritantly there with the airmatic suspension. Ill take the looks all day, I slammed my W211 E55 and CL65 and never had any issues with the shocks. My W211 had 34k miles when I sold it.

FWIW- the drop didnt really change the feel of the car IMHO. It actually gave a lower center of gravity and slightly more rebound and compression. But the wheels do change the feel; but not so much.
