W208 Brake Lights - Someone knows how to solve this!

Folks,

Recently purchased a 2002 CLK 230 W208. Unfortunately none of the brake lights work. I have taken the following actions:

* Changed brake light bulbs.
* Replaced Fuse.
* Replaced Brake Switch.
* Checked/cleaned bulb holders.
* Checked/tightened wire connectors to rear lights.

There is 1 malfunction message that pops up when I turn on the ignition. It is a picture of a bulb with the message 'display defective visit workshop'. I am assuming that this an unrelated malfunction message and is specific to the dead pixels on the display. Maybe I am wrong.

All of the other bulbs/lights in the car work. Does anybody know what this could be. Perhaps there is another wire connector for the brake wiring system that needs reconnecting? If so where is this? Would appreciate any help.
