W202 Mercedes-Benz C43 AMG

Let's kick the list off with one of the first cars built by AMG after establishing an official partnership with Daimler. The C43 was the second AMG creation based on the W202 C-Class, succeeding the C36. With an output of 306 horsepower from the 4.3-liter V8, the C43 was about as fun of a sport sedan that money could buy back in 1997, when it was introduced, and arguably still to this day.

C118 Mercedes-AMG CLA 45

From classic to modern. The newest product from the Mercedes-AMG brand is the CLA 45. Not dissimilar to the aforementioned C 43, the CLA 45 is a nimble, sporty, compact 4-door that comes with surprising performance. The AMG's 2.0-liter turbocharged engine produces 382 horsepower, which gives the CLA 45 a 0-60 acceleration time that beats every car on this list at just 4.0 seconds.

C209 Mercedes-Benz CLK63 AMG

The second generation of the CLK was a popular vehicle, both as a coupe and convertible. The performance variants built by AMG provided the complete package. With the signature Mercedes comfort, cool styling,  available drop-top fun with the 'vert, and the most powerful naturally-aspirated AMG engine, the famous 6.3-liter M156, the CLK 63 of the late 2000s is hard to beat.

W219 Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG

With styling that turned the heads of the automotive industry when it was introduced in 2005, the first-generation Mercedes CLS is considered by many as a pioneering design from the German brand. And much like the CLK, with 507 horses from the 6.3-liter V8, the CLS63 is a real four-door muscle car.

R171 Mercedes-Benz SLK55 AMG

And that brings us to a car that probably should have never been built. But we're so happy that it was! With a compact and lightweight package that has a bit of a cultural connotation attached to it, because some folks think it's girly! Not that there's anything wrong with that. But the folks at AMG took that and stuck a 5.5-liter V8 under the hood to create the company's most impressive little rocket roadster.
