Convertible Mercedes G-Wagon is Crazy 850HP Monster

Jon Olsson is a vehicle-mods enthusiast who owns 'Lord Hans,' the 850-hp G-Wagon that has undergone more insane modifications than any other SUV we know of. He wanted his car to stand out. What he has now is a sight to behold in Monaco.

An Athlete with a Taste for Insane Vehicles

Jon Olsson is a professional alpine ski racer and freeskier born in Sweden. He has a vast history of creatively modifying his cars. Whether it was his snow-battling Lamborghini Huracan that carried a ski box on its roof, or his DTM-motivated Audi RS6 that met a tragic end, there's no doubt that Olsson has a heart for insane cars. His latest project comprises a heavily modified Mercedes-Benz G500 4x42 dubbed "Lord Hans".

A Little Parking Problem

Olsson has owned his G500 for a while. He has carried out multiple configurations to get the best performance and looks out of it. Last year, he realized that "Lord Hans" was too tall. The vehicle could hardly fit in his own garage, let alone the numerous small underground parking lots scattered all over Monaco and Marabella. He decided to reduce the SUV's height by chopping off its roof. In June last year, he showed off his modified G500 that had no roof on YouTube.

Going Over and Above

In addition to reducing the G500's height, Olsson had the A, B, and C pillars cut off. This allowed the tuner to take the roof off the doors. The windscreen was shortened to bring out a safari vibe. The G500 4x42 looked quite impressive without a roof. However, it could not be driven under harsh weather conditions. Olsson decided to take the German beast back to the tuning house for more mods. A bespoke fabric roof was fitted that now allows the athlete to drive even on rainy days.

Standing Out from the Crowd

Some of the features that make this G500 stand out include its serious off-road suspension and the fact that it sits on wheels borrowed from the G63 6x6. It's a capable winter warrior that packs additional mods such as a bull rack, custom lighting, a roof rack, and a power boost. Further hardware includes a new exhaust system to complement the power upgrade.

A New Paint Job

Currently, Olsson's G500 is covered in white paint, which matches his personal clothing brand. This is a recent upgrade from the previously camouflaged body wrap that the vehicle had last year. Subtle accents have also been painted white, such as the springs. The back seats now feature some wood panels as well.

A Power Upgrade

Olsson bought the Mercedes G500 back in 2017 for $300,000. With it came a bi-turbo 4-liter V8 engine that could make up to 416 horsepower. By last year, the athlete had carried out enough mods to get his SUV to 780 horsepower. This, however, was not enough. An aftermarket exhaust system was recently installed to boost the figure to 850 horsepower. The system also makes this G500 arguably the loudest G-Wagon we have seen.

The Coolest Feature Yet

The coolest feature on Osslon's G500 is something that he doesn't talk about. The internal valve in his vehicle's exhaust pipes can be altered using an iPhone app to regulate the sound. At maximum, this G500 is louder than any other vehicle offered by Mercedes. This makes Olsson's SUV the wildest and probably scariest Mercedes-Benz out there.
