Classic Pagoda Gets a Green Upgrade

Everrati, the UK-based automotive company renowned for its expertise in transforming classic cars into electric marvels, has unveiled its latest creation – an all-electric W113 Mercedes-Benz SL Pagoda. This iconic vehicle, first introduced in 1963, has been meticulously restored and redefined by Everrati, blending the elegance of the past with the sustainability of the future. The Pagoda, a symbol of timeless design, has undergone a complete transformation, replacing its original six-cylinder engine with an in-house developed electric powertrain. Importantly, Everrati's conversion is fully reversible, preserving the model's value and originality.

Performance and Sustainability in Harmony

Under the hood, the electric Pagoda boasts impressive performance capabilities. It comes with two power output options – a base version generating 174 hp and a top-spec model producing 300 hp. Both versions offer a top speed of 124 mph and can accelerate from 0-60 mph in under 7 seconds. The vehicle's heart is a 68 kWh battery pack, providing a driving range of over 200 miles between charges. Everrati ensured that the weight balance and driving dynamics remained true to the original, ensuring a seamless blend of performance and sustainability.

Preserving History, Embracing the Future

The restoration and conversion of the Pagoda were carried out with utmost respect for its historical significance. Hand-built and restored by Hilton & Moss, a classic car dealership in England, the Pagoda retains its original exterior and interior design, with only subtle modifications such as updated dials. The absence of an exhaust pipe and engine noise are the only cues hinting at its electric nature. Everrati offers a configurator on its website, allowing enthusiasts to choose customizations such as color and top style, preserving the essence of the classic Pagoda while embracing modernity.

A Star-Studded Legacy

The Pagoda has long been associated with fame and glamour, counting celebrities like John Lennon, Tina Turner, Audrey Hepburn, and Charlton Heston among its owners. Everrati's tribute to this iconic vehicle not only preserves its elegance but also enhances its performance, creating a unique proposition in the electric vehicle market.

A Vision on Display

Everrati unveiled its electric Mercedes-Benz Pagoda at the Fairmont Monte Carlo during the Monaco Yacht Show. This stunning creation will be showcased in the hotel's lobby, allowing visitors to witness the seamless fusion of history and innovation. While the exact pricing for this electric marvel remains undisclosed, earlier announcements hinted at a starting price of $358,053.

Driving Forward

By transforming classic icons like the Mercedes-Benz Pagoda into electric vehicles, the company not only caters to enthusiasts seeking sustainable options but some would argue it also ensures the preservation of automotive heritage.

Yay or Nay?

The expansion of electrification to classics has us asking this question: Are these conversions diluting the true experience of these amazing classics? This writer, for one, is among those who believe an iconic vehicle like the Pagoda Mercedes SL doesn't need an electric powertrain to "survive" in a future focused on sustainability. What do you think?
