Technical Garage Sasaki

Technical Garage Sasaki is a garage based in Kawasaki, south of Tokyo. It's discrete and built with no branding or signage to indicate what magic takes place within. The garage is owned by Sasaki-san, the guy behind Brilliant Exhaust, who's a wild exhaust tuner that has made a name for himself across the world.

Extensive Experience

Sasaki-san has been a tuner for over 13 years. He started by tuning Ferraris and BMWs before moved to the Mercedes-Benz S600. The S600 one of his most recognized works. The first video he ever did was one where he drove the tuned W220 S600 through a village 7 years ago.

An Inspiring Trial

Sasaki-san then moved to a W140 S600 that he modified 3 years ago. He shot a video doing brilliant tunnel runs in it in the middle of the night. The video went viral and inspired a few guys in Japan to buy W140 S600s. Some went ahead and replicated the noise using homemade exhaust mods. This was one of Sasaki-san's trials at achieving the perfect exhaust sound. After three failed attempts, he was able to achieve that high pitch noise that was perfect in his ears.

Continuous Growth

Sasaki-san then applied his new technique to all his future one-off projects. He uses the same material and exhaust length on all the vehicles he works on. Currently, Brilliant Exhaust boasts of a rich portfolio which includes Ferrari, Maserati, Aston Martin, Mercedes-Benz, Lamborghini, Audi, and BMW. Sasaki-san's has also worked on 6, 8, and 10 cylinder engines. His favorites are 12 cylinder engines because they produce the best sound.

Rare Examples

One of Sasaki-san's current projects includes a Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG Black Series. It's a rare V12 that will only see 350 examples produced. The owner of the car entrusted Brilliant Exhaust with improving its sound. Other projects that Sasaki-san has done a remarkable job on include a W124 E500 and an Aston Martin DBS Superleggera.

Subtle But Perfect

Sasaki-san is reserved and quiet. He doesn't do any aggressive advertising or marketing for his business and neither does he have a huge following on social media. He's also not one to attend shows or showcase his cars. He runs everything at Brilliant Exhaust alone and works on the cars by himself. Occasionally, he'll have a few guys around to help out with the work but is mostly alone most of the time.

Doing What He Loves

His joy comes from doing what he loves. He's never interested in fame or having the best in the industry praise him for his work. His best moments lie in working with people that enjoy and love what he does. He's the type of person that would rather show you what he's capable of instead of speaking about it.

Sasaki-san's Favorite

The craziest car that Sasaki-san has ever worked on is the Ferrari 599 GTO. He says that his favorite car of all time is the Ferrari V12. Other Ferraris that Brilliant Exhaust has worked on include the 575 and F12. For a long time, his only demo car was the S600. Unlike the Ferraris and Lamborghinis, however, its exhausts cannot be easily shipped from overseas. This is because the car's engine is so complicated and tightly packed that he has to remove and install new parts.

Price

To get an S600 that's fitted with the "Brilliant Exhaust," owners have to either ship their own car or get one from Japan. The exhaust system costs $12,500 to install.
