The 'Benz luxury car mainstay

The E-Class model range remains the anchor of Mercedes-Benz's luxury car business and its legacy now lives forth through the new 2021 model range. Subtle in style but absolutely bursting with tech.

Purposeful new grille and light design

The new E-Class features slimmer headlamps framing a new grille design. Proportions are geometric and the hood has four styling creases running lengthwise. E-Class also introduces three new colors for 2021: Graphite Grey, Mojave Silver, and Cirrus Silver. All told, it remains true to its heritage by being the perfectly shaped and sized Mercedes-Benz luxury sedan.

A new sequence of LEDs

Around the rear, the new E-Class is distinguished by its revised LED tail-lamp design. The diodes are stacked in a differentiated pattern and flash a new sequencing when triggered, similar to Mercedes-Benz's smaller vehicles. As with all Mercedes-Benz luxury cars, the new E-Class has impeccable shut line tolerances, showing the very best of Stuttgart engineering and build quality in its construction.

Blending all the right materials into unity

The new E-Class cabin architecture is a celebration of space and appropriate materials. Mercedes-Benz's designers have combined the brand's traditional appreciation for leather and wood with modern metal surfaces. This contrast of warm or cool colors and textures work brilliantly. Seating comfort is typically excellent, with ergonomically bolstered seats that offer generous adjustment. Even after an entire day on the road, fatigue will never be an issue in the new E-Class.

New steering wheel with better ergonomics

From the driver's position, there is much to delight with new E-Class. The steering wheel features dual side-spokes, each with its own series of controls. By splitting the controls onto two individual touch surfaces, Mercedes-Benz designers have avoided the annoyance of accidentally triggering the incorrect function, which is the case with conventional steering wheel touch controls. As with more contemporary Mercedes-Benz luxury vehicles, the E-Class driver is served information via a vivid 12.3-inch digital display.

More in-line options

Although E-Class retains much of the familiar Mercedes-Benz engine line-up, there are some changes. The E 450 is now powered by an in-line six-cylinder engine, as opposed to V6 configuration. Most interesting is the E350e plug-in hybrid option. It combines a 2-liter four-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine, with a 121hp electric motor. Total system output is a notable 315hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. The E350e should offer E-Class customers a convincing blend of performance and fuel economy.

Swift and safe luxury sedan

Elegant and swift, the E-Class has also become even safer. There are many active and passive safety systems, which only intervene when required. The adaptive cruise control has a stop-and-go intelligent brake and throttle control. To avoid a collision, there's automatic emergency braking with forward scanning radar and sensor capability. And to ensure you manage those very tight parking spaces without any anxiety, the surround-view camera system on new E-Class has an expanded side monitor, providing a greater field of view.
