Next Generation AMG Sports Cars to Have Quieter Exhausts
Following new regulations from Europe, AMG plans to continue building sports cars, but with less noise. enthusiasts will get to hear the symphony from the inside through the automaker's sound system.
New Regulations
Europe is turning away noisy exhausts. This is according to new regulations that require automakers to do away with loud and growly exhaust notes. Not even Mercedes-AMG can avoid adhering to the new rules because they affect all markets, including those outside Europe.

Too Expensive
Europe has been tightening the bolts and switching things up for automotive manufacturers every two years. Following the introduction of the current regulations, Mercedes-AMG has warned that sports cars will soon be significantly quieter. According to their head of product planning for compact cars, Bastian Bogenschutz, it's going to be increasingly expensive to build unique exhaust systems for each market. This may cause automakers to do away with auditory delivery altogether.

Bringing the Noise inside
AMG plans to counter the new regulations by bringing the noise inside. The company will take the real exhaust sound and channel it into the cabin through its pure performance sound system. In-cabin audio systems that mimic engine and exhaust noises have been there for a while. They aren't what many would consider ideal, but are definitely better than having nothing.

More Solutions
Sound is an important part of the driving experience and it's only fair that automakers find solutions to the new regulations. Very little can be compared to the vivid sound of burbles, wails, and loud pops emanating from a symphonic exhaust system. As times change, the robust aftermarket will have to prepare itself to provide more solutions to rectify these ever-constricting regulations.
