Tastefully Modified AMG GT Rides on Air

If nothing else, this air ride-equipped AMG GT certainly stands out from the crowd.

Dare to Be Different

Though it's become a bit diluted in recent years, the AMG badge is still affixed to some seriously fast machinery. That certainly applies to the AMG GT, a stunning-looking thing equipped with a snarling twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 and a lightning-quick shifting seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. But longtime custom car builder Andrew Britton wanted to do something a bit different with his AMG GT, as he explained to Fast Car.

R Transformation

Britton wanted a GT R to start with but wound up settling for the GT C when he came across a deal so good he couldn't pass it up. However, he loved the aggressive looks of the R, so the first order of business was making his new C a bit tougher in that department by adding the former's front bumper, side skirts, rear wing, and rear spoiler.

Riding on Air

At this point, Britton had already spent so much money on the car that he could have just bought a GT R to begin with, but we digress. The next step was to give this car the perfect stance, and there's no better way to do that than with an air suspension, which consists of custom AirREX struts with AccuAir e-Level management.

Softening the Look

To cap off that stance, Britton added a set of staggered black Rotiform OZT wheels, which measure in at 21 inches in the rear and 20 inches in the front. At this point, the matte gray machine was looking rather mean, but Britton decided to add some accents that, shall we say, soften the look a tad.

Love It or Hate It

Yes, we're talking about those pink accents that adorn the wheel hardware, brake calipers, headlights, and roll cage. Even Britton admits that they're a love it or hate it sort of proposition, and he's totally right. But this is his car, of course, so he's free to do with it whatever he wants.

No Copycat

Britton's AMG GT is, if nothing else, a 100% unique build that you're not going to see emulated anywhere else in the world. And that's really saying something in this day and age, where people tend to churn out copycat builds with the same parts, over and over again.

Unique Build

Plus, when was the last time you even saw a modified AMG GT? Most would argue that this car is good as-is, and has no need for modifications (save for a little added performance, of course). But to us, there's always room for improvement. Or, depending on how you look at it, the chance to do something totally different.
