Mercedes-Benz of EVs

While many automakers dipping their toes in the realm of EVs seem to want to follow in the footsteps of Tesla, Mercedes-Benz is staying true to its reputation in its electrification endeavors. The EQC 400 is very much in tune with the company's design philosophy in every sense. This isn't the EV of the Mercedes lineup. It's the Mercedes-Benz of electric vehicles.

Luxury and Style

That means the same quality, technology, features, and performance we've all come to expect from the world's premier luxury brand is present with the EQC Class. And it certainly looks the part, too.

Interior Quality

Perhaps the most important aspect of owning a Mercedes is the feel of the interior. The cabin of the EQC has a familiar feel, in comparison to other Mercedes products such as its sister model, the GLE. Perhaps an even more comfortable ride with the lack of an internal combustion engine. And hints of the brand's EQ character can be found within the interior design and the user interface.

Performance

With a 0-60 mph acceleration time of 5.1 seconds, the EQC is no slouch in a straight line, but certainly not the fastest when considering its competition in the Tesla Model X. The Mercedes EV walks a balanced line between performance and luxury, with more of a focus towards the latter. So don't expect the SUV to be anyone's choice for a weekend canyon carver.

Range and Charging

Obviously, the range will vary depending on one's driving style and the choice between the Comfort, Eco, Max Range, and Sport driving modes. But Mercedes has estimated 280 miles on a full charge for the EQC. A respectable range, without a doubt. And charging up to 80% will take around 60 minutes at a charger, and about 10 hours when connected to a socket at home.

Worth the Price

Pricing for the EQC is set to start at just under $70,000. It falls below the starting MSRP of the Model X. And while it may not necessarily have the cool factor or the performance of the Model X, the EQC does what it does better than any other vehicle in the segment. The amount of comfort, luxury, quality, and proven Mercedes technology that comes with the EV is worth the price of admission, let alone the stunning aesthetics.
