Exclamation NEW Mercedes WHITE STAR Flat Badge for CLK hoods!

Introducing the WHITE STAR Flat Badge replacement for the OEM upright hood stars. This part will fit any Mercedes-Benz that uses the #210 880 01 86 upright star -- including the W208 CLK Coupe -- because it is made from the same OEM part.

The WHITE STAR Flat Badge also fits current and previous C-Class sedans (W203 & W202), current and previous E-Class (W211 and W210, W124), previous S-Class (W220) and ALL AMG models based on these chassis.

One can swap between the WHITE STAR Flat Badge or the OEM star in seconds… Install the traditional star for formal occasions, and substitute the WHITE STAR Flat Badge for a sporty, everyday silhouette.

I make these badges in my machine shop, mostly on the weekends. After disassembling the OEM star, I machine the socket required to accommodate a legacy White Star insert I created myself. I cement this insert in place, then cast a tan plug, which holds the mount lock in place, and reassemble everything.

As a result, the WHITE STAR Flat Badge is a hand-made, limited production item. Each one is signed and serial numbered, and comes with a matching certificate of authenticity, carrying the same serial number. There are a handful of these currently in circulation in the US. I plan to make these only as long as there is demand.

I have always thought the upright star was particularly out of place on the sleek CLK. If you've kept your W208 until now, you've probably had your fill of the only option -- the plastic SLK Badge that fades in the sun, and sits on top of the hood. The WHITE STAR Flat Badge sits within the divot (like the OEM star), so it is more flush with the hood.

So you now have the WHITE STAR Flat Badge to consider as a unique alternative.

If interested, send me an e-mail at the DFWdude@tx.rr.com...

Would you happen to have a picture of a 208 with the flat badge on? Or any other Mercedes for that matter?

Ah, this is a new thread compared with the other MBWorld forums. There are tons of photos of the WHITE STAR Flat Badge on various MBs. Here are a few, borrowed from members who have shared...

Here is a link to a much longer thread on the subject...

C-Class forum: https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w203/143911-new-mercedes-benz-white-star-flat-hood-badge-c-class-w203.html

I have sold two badges to W208 owners, but they haven't posted any pictures, yet.

Fellas, the serial number WHITE STAR Flat Badge you receive is based on the order payment is received (first come-first served), so it's important to have one point of contact. So, please send me an e-mail at DFWdude@tx.rr.com and I will respond. Thanks for your interest...

For sure, the upright star on the CLK has always looked a little funky to me. None of the other "coupes" have it, and I see MB went the cheap SLK badge route with the W209. They prob did it to save money, but discovered a sportier look in the bargain. So it's a win-win.

But the WHITE STAR Flat Badge is much classier than the SLK badge, imo.

For those of you who have lived with the plastic SLK Flat hood badge on your W208s, I thought you might like to see a side-by-side comparison with my WHITE STAR Flat Badge . My customers tell me the WHITE STAR Flat Badge shines more in the light.

So, I decided to test this by photographing both badges, shot in sunlight, to compare how both badges pick up the light, side-by-side. Obvously, the WHITE STAR Flat Badge is on the left, while the SLK badge is on the right. Both badges are brand new.

The facets within the WHITE STAR field do seem to catch the light more (by design), accentuating the white star and the contrast within the Laurel Wreath ring of the badge in general.

Folks with W208s continue to e-mail me, asking how difficult it is to remove the upright star and install the WHITE STAR Flat Badge. So, I've compiled a sequence of photos, below.

In most cases, one can untwist the upright star with the thumb and forefinger. But in cases where the star has been on the car for years, a gentle nudge with a pair of pliers is all that is needed. Once loose, you can swap between upright and WHITE STAR Flat Badge in seconds...

Cool Wow...

Now this is abadge to have, the WHITE STAR Flat Badge is awsome.
This is the badge to use when replacing OEM star.

This gives the hood a nice clean smooth look to it.

Below are some pics.

WHITE STAR Flat Badge before install.

After install.

Install took like... 5 seconds, just drop in from top of hood and turn base from under hood clockwise.

I've got to give props to DFWdude for a fine product as well as communication and promised delivery of my new WHITE STAR Flat Badge.

Some people feel the upright ornament, meant for a sedan, looks out of place on the sleek W208 CLK, which is a coupe... in fact, the only MB coupe without a flat badge from the factory. Its successor, the W209, comes with a flat badge.

If you don't understand the concept, then it's OK, you're not a potential owner of a WHITE STAR Flat Badge. MB and the aftermarket tuners sell thousands of the cheap plastic flat badge every year. And I'll leave it to the 125 owners of WHITE STAR Flat Badges to explain further why it works for them. It is for those people that this thread is intended, (not you).

I do not conduct business via PMs. It makes it too difficult to keep requests in order.

You'll need to take the same amount of time to send me an e-mail, to DFWdude@tx.rr.com, please.

Huh? It's exactly the same size of the upright star you have on your CLK, because it uses the same OEM base.

If it were any larger it would not fit within the divot on your CLK hood, which is the point of the whole exercise.

Yes, that is correct, Mr. Bob. The WHITE STAR Flat Badge is made from the existing OEM upright star, so it's a direct replacement part.
