Upgraded 2010 looks (from Japan)

Apparently, this company called PROSTUFF in Japan has been successfully doing the updated 2010 looks (headlights, mirrors, bumpers, grill, taillights, exhaust) since September.

Here's their blog documenting the process (in japanese):

http://ameblo.jp/prostuff/theme-10012059649.html

So, don't say we can't do it! Just need to figure it out how hehhe....

I did the translation, and the blog did say that they were encountering a lot of error problems with the headlights in the beginning, but everything is "fixed" now.

Too bad they didn't say how. Maybe someone here who can speak Japanese can call them up and ask??

Here's their official website:

Enjoy! And let me know if anything can come out of it...

I think the factory blinkers are the same too. If the full upgrade is possible I will go ahead and do it but can some one do an estimate for the parts...? or is there anyone here that have a good discount?

What's different about the turn signals? I saw a 2010 S400 the other day and it looked identical to these... Whitish-blue standing lights that turn yellow when flashing for turn signals. Am I missing something?

Guys, these Japanese guys were doing the full 2010 conversion utilizing MB original parts plus some sort of a "kit" to make the headlights plug & play. As many of you know, a lot of people have been very unsuccessful in doing the conversion due to the LED parts in the headlights that make it next to impossible.

I read in the Japlish babelfish conversion that Prostuff.net also had big problems doing the conversion at first back in Sep 2009. Then they started perfecting it and are now able to do the conversion real quickly by using the "kit". The problem is that's where the info ends. I saw on their website that they sell the headlights for 500,000 yen, which is right around usd5,000. But I am not sure if that includes the conversion kit or just the headlights.

I wish someone in the area could chime in. Or if someone who can read Japanese (or talk Japanese can call 'em up). I am so dying to do this conversion, and if it's plug&play even better!!!

Wife was stationed in Japan a few years ago, but she still has some Japanese friends there. I'll see if she can talk to here friends there to check on the possibility of ordering the parts. My wife is in Jordan right now, so it may take until next.

Update;
Okay I gave my wife all the information and she shot a message to her Japanese friend so let hope we can get some good info back.

Yes, I did receive some information back. The upgrade that they have done are proven on the European models, but they can't guarantee that they will work on the US versions. But if you're willing to take the chance they will ship to the US.

I'd be willing to take a chance only if I can find a local custom shop in the east coast to work with me on getting it installed. I must say its very tempting.

I'm sure that there can't be that much difference between the European and US versions other than the emissions and a few other things.

I'm thinking it maybe a safer bet to try to get the parts from a supplier in the states. I think it will be a bit pricey going through Japan, but really tempting.

Perhaps we can do a "group" buy if enough folks are interested. That might bring the costs down as well. Thoughts?

TDwayne69, was your communication via email? Also, even if they can ship the parts, we would require some local expertise here to get them installed. FYI -- I am in NY/NJ/PA area.

Have they done it successfully for the headlights? And is that price ($5300) only for the Headlight/LED upgrade?

I thought the reason we are looking at these guys was because no-one has ever done it here in the states. Did I miss something?

I will see if I can get the direct contact so if anyone is interested can coordinate directly with them. I'm not sure about you guys, but I'm interested in a completed 2010 S65 conversion (headlights, tail-lights, side view mirrors, front and rear spoiler, grill, and quad exhaust). Honestly I think it is definitely cheaper to do it locally verse getting the parts from Japan. Not to add, that they stated that there's not guarantee that everything is going to work properly since ther systems are only proven on the European models. I totally agree with CL55_Serge, that it's not cost beneficial to go that way. They will ask you for your VIN and some other information. I'm not a big gambler, but once you guys get in contact with them and if you have success let us no. I will have my wife get the contact information from her friend, also there maybe a language barrier that you may have to deal with.I'll try to get the information tomorrow.
