Dawn of the new GT

The 2024 Mercedes-AMG GT lineup offers a diverse range of options for enthusiasts seeking AMG's brand of performance and luxury. From the line-topping (for now) GT63 to the more tame, entry-level GT43, each trim level caters to different preferences and driving styles. Let's delve into the specifics of each model to understand what sets them apart.

GT63

At the top of the lineup sits the Mercedes-AMG GT63, a powerhouse engineered to deliver exhilarating performance on both road and track. Priced starting at $175,900, the GT63 commands attention with its upgraded twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine, producing 577 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. This potent powertrain propels the GT63 from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.1 seconds, reaching a top speed of 196 mph.

GT63

Beyond raw power, the GT63 boasts advanced technology and engineering innovations to enhance handling and agility. Equipped with a rear axle steering system and an active ride control suspension featuring active roll stabilization, the GT63 offers precise control and responsiveness through every twist and turn. Additionally, the AMG Dynamic Plus Package further elevates performance with features like active engine mounts, an electronically controlled limited-slip differential, and a drive mode selector.

The GT63's visual cues are appropriately, the sportiest of the lineup so far. That will remain the case until sportier, and more track-focused variants emerge in the future.

GT55

The Mercedes-AMG GT55 strikes a balance between performance and luxury, appealing to drivers who seek both thrilling dynamics and refined comfort. Priced at $134,900, the GT55 is also powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine, generating 469 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque in this particular application. With a 0-60 mph acceleration time of 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 183 mph, the GT55 delivers exhilarating performance while maintaining a sense of sophistication on the road.

GT55

Inside the cabin, the GT55 offers a blend of sportiness and luxury, featuring a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, an 11.9-inch infotainment system, and premium amenities such as heated leather sport seats and a Burmester audio system. Optional upgrades include AMG Performance Seats, a 2+2 seating arrangement, and an Energizing Package for a personalized driving experience. In terms of appearance, the difference between the GT63 and the GT55 is apparent in the details, with the GT55 presenting more of a true grand tourer's aesthetic.

GT43

For enthusiasts seeking the pure essence of driving pleasure, the Mercedes-AMG GT43 offers a compelling option. Expected to debut in North America for the 2025 model year, the GT43 introduces a new entry-level variant to the lineup. Unlike its V8-powered siblings, the GT43 features a four-cylinder engine producing 415 horsepower with the assistance of an electric turbocharger derived from Formula 1 tech.

GT43

Despite its smaller engine, the GT43 promises dynamic handling and agility, thanks to its rear-wheel-drive setup and lighter weight. With a distinctly less aggressive appearance than the higher-end models of the sports car, the GT43 offers a unique driving experience tailored to purists who prioritize nimble performance (and a lower price point!)

Coming Soon

The GT63 and GT55 models are expected to hit the dealership floors as early as this spring, while the 4-banger GT43 will arrive later on for the 2025 model year.
